Initial Industry.Net Web-site

June - September 1994.

Industry.Net had an on-going dial-up service providing business information. My (future) boss, then at CMU, broached the idea of moving the service to the Web. Having gained company approval, he contacted me, having heard of my Web experience, to perform the migration.

I worked on a Sun box to bring up the Web service, using NCSA httpd and Perl. I set up a system to regularly move the dial-up data, held in a variety of PC-based formats, to the Sun box, infer the organization of the information, and translate to HTML. The system was brought live in August 1994, and was one of the biggest Web sites at the time.
